Whether a Cosy Mystery, a Classic Mystery, a Paranormal Mystery, or what-have-you, this genre is popular in the extreme, both on the page and on the screen.

The Cosy variety is a gentle form perfect for a fireside read on a cold day.  The Classics, like the Agatha Christie books, focus on a protagonist who must discover who killed the deceased and how.  Modern Mysteries may involve terrorists or criminals, police corruption or political scandal.  And the Paranormal type often follows a psychic who is helping police, or one investigating strange events or haunted buildings.

When we think “mystery” we tend to think “murder,” but the genre includes stories in which death plays no part.
